You say “Mac” we say “Cheese” ! Some would say you can judge a restaurant on this old time favourite, get the basics right and the rest will follow.
So, @FoodNoiseLondon have been sampling some of London’s favourite Mac&Cheese…
1) NUMBER 90, Hackney Wick
This Hackney Wick hidden gem serves up some of the best Mac & Cheese we’ve tasted. They’ve got the right balance of flavours and have made this venue a destination in its own right. The fact that all the produce is locally sourced only acts as a reminder of how Number 90 are doing things differently. After tucking into your Mac & Cheese you can enjoy a range of infused cocktails and explore the outdoor terrace. As well as all this, Number 90 celebrates the best local & international music, comedy, film & theatre. So, it’s safe to say you’ll have a “Gouda Time”. (Sorry, we couldn’t resist).
2) HAWKSMOOR, Seven Dials
They’re only serving up Lobster Mac & Cheese! This rich, comforting and downright awesome dish will bring a smile to anyone’s face. They’ve mastered the cheese to creamy sauce ratio, making this dish something really special. This hot spot for meat lovers has shown that they’re not just a one trick pony and they care about getting things right! Whatever the dish.
3) THE MAC FACTORY, Camden
Offering gourmet Mac and Cheese that isn’t afraid to be different! They’ve taken this old favourite and combined it with new and interesting flavour combinations to really blow your mind. But what really makes this Mac & cheese so, so special, is the sprinkle of Parmesan and thyme crust which crowns each one of their magnificent, golden delights.
4) ANNA MAE’S Street Food (Various locations)
This fantastic street food van offers big pan mac n cheese, served from giant cast iron skillets! Their pride and joy is made fresh on site, along with a choice of toppings. And to top that all off, you can hire this van for your own weddings, birthday parties, Barmitz Vahs or heck, any event you want really…enough said!
5) RED’s, Shoreditch
Gather the congregation; we’re at the final stop of our capital-wide search for the most heavenly Mac & Cheese. Red’s offers “Three cheese balls, served with a Pickleback BBQ dipper” and if they’re not enough to grab your attention, the bible of eat on offer surely will. It’s safe to say that this place can answer your Mac-n-Cheese prayers. Amen brother!
