Five Yorkshire Restaurants Make the Cut in National Restaurant Awards 2025 – And There’s Even More to Brag About

12 Jun 2025

Hold onto your sourdough, Yorkshire foodies — the 2025 National Restaurant Awards are out, and five (yes, FIVE!) of our finest have made the top 100 list. That’s two more than last year, which clearly means we’re getting even tastier with age.

In (some) particular order…

Taking the crown as the top-ranked Yorkshire spot is JÖRO  in Sheffield, coming in strong at number 43. It’s sleek, it’s inventive, and it probably serves something with burnt hay foam that tastes annoyingly amazing. A huge round of applause and several celebratory small plates are definitely in order.

Newcomers to the list this year also include Forge at Middleton Lodge, which has elbowed its way into the culinary elite at number 88. If you like your fine dining served with a side of Georgian country estate glamour, this is your jam.

Also keeping Yorkshire firmly on the foodie map:

  • Myse in Hovingham (ranked 72), where each dish is a lovingly crafted Yorkshire haiku.
  • The Angel at Hetton (number 75), proving once again that pub food can be heavenly – especially when it involves tasting menus and immaculate presentation.
  • The Black Swan at Oldstead (ranked 81), the Michelin-starred destination that consistently serves up farm-to-fork magic with a flourish.

Oh, and for those wondering, The Ritz in London took the overall top spot. Fancy that.

But wait, there’s more delicious news. Pignut in Helmsley didn’t just get a pat on the back – it was shortlisted for the prestigious Sustainability Award. Owners Tom and Laurissa Heywood are leading the charge when it comes to ethical eating, and honestly, we love to see it.

Their food philosophy? Hyper-local ingredients, regenerative farming, a zero-waste ethos, and even carbon-neutral status. It’s basically the Greta Thunberg of restaurants – and somehow still absolutely delicious.

The Heywoods said the recognition “means a lot” and thanked their local suppliers, who heavily influence their ever-evolving menu. They’re hoping to inspire others to be more sustainable – and they’re taking that mission to The Hare at Scawton this July, when Pignut officially relocates there.

So, to summarise: Yorkshire’s culinary scene is absolutely flying, we’re feeding the planet and our bellies better, and there’s never been a better excuse to book a fancy meal out. You know… for research.
