Bottoms Up @ Galvin Hop, Spitalfields

12 Jun 2017

Do you remember when afternoon teas were all the rage? Well, there’s a not so new kid in town, the bottomless brunch!

I’m not usually one to follow the crowd, but when it involves free flowing prosecco, well, I’m usually first in line! (I mean come on, who isn’t, right!?) I’ve been to a fair few bottomless brunches in my time, but I have to say that Galvin HOP does a mighty good deal! I’m  often put off by the £30/40 add-ons for unlimited Prosecco at many London brunches, but Galvin HOP goes a step further with their weekend brunch by offering you a choice of either Bloody Marys, Pilsner Urquell or Prosecco for just £10 per person when ordering a minimum of two courses – bargain!

Without sounding too stalkerish, I have been following the Michelin starred Galvin brothers and their collection of restaurants for a while now, so I was super excited to visit Galvin HOP, their flagship pub in Spital Square, and what a way to start a weekend!

Unlike other bottomless brunch offerings, Galvin has a large selection of food to choose from – for me this was both a good and a bad thing! The massive foodie in me was delighted and I couldn’t wait to pig out, but with choice comes decisions, and I am one of the most indecisive people you will ever meet! Items on the menu range from traditional brunch classics like Eggs Benedict and Avocado on Toast to buttermilk pancakes topped with berries, cream and maple syrup and yep, you guessed it, I had the pancakes…don’t judge me, calories don’t count at the weekend!

With a two hour window of unlimited booze, it’s easy to get a bit squiffy, so I’d recommend lining your stomach, which is why I perused the menu once again and simply had to order the Sirloin steak, which came with two fried eggs and chips. The Galvin brothers did not disappoint – the menu provides guests with simple but flavoursome dishes of the highest quality, all in a relaxed pub setting! Inside boasts huge bronze Pilsner tanks, which adorn the bar, whilst outside offers a spacious area to watch the world go by with some electric heaters of course, as you just never know what our glorious English weather is going to do!

Bottomless brunches have become a weekend staple and I hope that this one is here to stay for the long haul. Whilst I was in there, we saw a range of different people soaking up the atmosphere and starting off their weekend with some bubbles. Perhaps my favourite sight was the rowdy group of guys next to us with a Pilsner in one hand and a glass of Prosecco delicately placed in the other!

So, what are you waiting for? Raise a glass or five to the weekend at the pub deluxe in Spital Square and turn your brunch bottomless!
