MasterChef winner, Eddie Scott chooses Beverley for his new restaurant, opening in May

A lot has happened since Eddie Scott won MasterChef back in 2022, but most excitingly, his new restaurant, L’Opaline Bistrot will open in in Beverley on the first of May.

For those who know Eddie, they’ll be aware of his love of both Indian and French cuisines, and both will be showcased in his new restaurant.

In a recent Instagram post, he said: “L’Opaline represents everything that I love about food and will be a celebration of my passion for the classic cuisines of France and India – featuring no-nonsense, rustic and regional dishes, very reflective of the bustling local bistrots that I love to eat in.

“The menu will of course feature my signature biryani. The restaurant brings together my two culinary worlds.”

But, just where did the name come from? Eddie said: “It was my favourite ever restaurant in France. Each summer we would visit a supermarket cafeteria by the name of l’Opaline.”

It was in this vintage 1970s eatery that I was first exposed to the great cuisine of France and the name has always stuck with me. The original “l’Opaline” was demolished in the early 2000s, but lives on again in another guise.”

Eddie, who hails from Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire couldn’t think of a better location for his new venture than in his beloved hometown and described it as a “dream come true”.

L’Opaline Bistrot will be open to the public on Wednesday 1st May. Reserve your seat now.
